Ciamis (ANTARA) - The West Java Provincial Government has distributed aid to 170 families affected by flooding in Pamarican sub-district, Ciamis Regency, to alleviate the burden on affected residents.

“Each family will receive financial assistance of Rp5 million. The money will be transferred directly to their respective accounts,” said West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi while meeting with flood victims in Sukahurip village, Pamarican sub-district, Ciamis, on Wednesday.

He stated that the assistance will be received directly without any administrative deductions.

“There should be no reason to ask for administrative fees, so it must be a full Rp5 million,” he said.

The Governor explained that the Regent of Ciamis had initially proposed assistance for 250 families affected by the flood, but after verification, 170 families were deemed eligible.

However, the Governor stated that the 80 families who did not pass the initial verification will also be processed so that they can receive the same amount of financial assistance, Rp5 million.

“So, all 250, as proposed by the Regent, will be approved,” he said.

The Head of the Community and Village Empowerment Office of West Java Province, Mochamad Ade Afriandi, added that the assistance is currently being distributed directly to the recipients’ accounts.

He stated that the people who receive assistance from the West Java Provincial Government are confirmed to have been affected by the flood in Pamarican sub-district.

“So, after the verification, it was confirmed that they were indeed affected, and their livelihoods need attention,” he said.

The flood hit residential areas in Bangunsari village and Sukahurip village, Pamarican sub-district, twice, first on Monday (February 9) and then again on Monday (February 16). The flood was caused by high rainfall, combined with the overflowing of the Citalahab River and the collapse of the river embankment, causing the flood to inundate residential areas and agricultural land.
