West Java Provincial Government Distributes 1,500 Kilograms of Rice, Ensures Food Assistance Is on Target
The West Java Provincial Government has distributed 1,500 kilograms of rice from the Regional Government Food Reserve (CPPD) to 150 heads of household in the Desil 1–5 category in Bojong Timur Village, Bojong District, Purwakarta Regency, on Thursday (3/9/2026). In addition, 300 day-old chicks (DOC) were distributed to 30 beneficiary households.
The assistance was a collaboration between the Food Security and Livestock Service (DKPP) and the West Java Social Service as part of the ‘Participation in Overseeing Food Security Social Assistance’ programme.
The Head of the West Java Provincial DKPP, Linda Al Amin, said that the provision of rice and DOC assistance represents the government’s presence in meeting short-term needs while fostering long-term food self-sufficiency.
Specifically for the DOC assistance, the intervention is aimed at enabling communities to meet their animal protein needs independently.
“We want food assistance to open opportunities for communities to become more self-reliant. This DOC assistance is expected to become a food source as well as a potential household business development if managed properly,” she added.
After the assistance was distributed, a joint team then carried out monitoring and factual verification.
“This activity of overseeing social assistance is not merely about ensuring that aid is distributed, but about directly checking the condition of recipients in the field. We want to ensure that this assistance is on target and provides real benefits,” said Linda.
The joint team also conducted ground checks by visiting residents’ homes directly. This step was focused on Desil 1 families identified as not yet having received assistance.
Ground checks are a crucial stage for verifying the suitability of recipient data with actual conditions in a transparent and accountable manner.
“Verification and ground checks are very important so that no community in need is overlooked by the government. Accurate data is the foundation of an effective programme,” Linda stressed.
The cross-sectoral activity also involved the West Java Provincial DP3AKB, the Purwakarta Regency Social Service, BPJS Purwakarta Regency, OJK Purwakarta Regency, and Bojong Timur village officials. This collaboration demonstrates that handling community welfare requires synergy from upstream to downstream.
Going forward, the West Java Provincial Government is committed to continuing to strengthen synergy with district and village governments to ensure that every social assistance programme is properly overseen. With a spirit of collaboration, it is hoped that a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous community food security ecosystem will be created.
