West Java Provincial Government Covers Medical Costs for Train Accident Victims in Bekasi
Governor of West Java Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) stated that all victims undergoing treatment are guaranteed medical cost coverage and compensation of Rp50 million for the heirs of the deceased victims. “The West Java Provincial Government will cover all hospital treatment costs for all victims being treated. Compensation of Rp50 million each will be given to those who died,” he said in a written statement on Monday (11/5/2026). He also expressed condolences for the tragedy and hoped such incidents would not recur in the future, while urging the public to pray for the victims’ families to be granted strength. For information, the accident that occurred on Monday (27/4) began when the KRL stopped because there was a stalled electric taxi on the railway tracks. While stationary, the KRL was then hit from behind by the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train on the Jakarta-Surabaya route. As a result of the incident, 14 people died and 84 others were injured.
