The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) is constructing a new gateway at the border between West Java and DKI Jakarta. The site is located on Jalan Margonda Raya, Depok, which borders South Jakarta.

Observations on Jalan Margonda Raya, Depok, on Sunday (30/08/2026), show the construction site situated on the left side of the road. The location serves as the primary access point into the city of Depok from the direction of Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.

The construction area is currently enclosed by tarpaulins or banners reading ‘Construction of West Java Provincial Border Gateway Location 1’. Traffic cones and road markings have also been placed around the site.

The gateway will be built on both sides of Jalan Margonda Raya, serving both the Depok and South Jakarta directions. The project is currently in its initial stages.

The old gateway has already been demolished. A local resident, Satyo (37), expressed hope that the local government would also prioritise road repairs and the construction of a flyover in Depok. “It would be better to focus on repairing the roads or something similar so that Depok does not experience congestion. Whatever they choose to build is fine,” he remarked.

According to the General Procurement Plan Information System (SIRUP Inaproc LKPP), the budget for the ‘Construction of West Java Provincial Border Gateway Location 1’ is sourced from the 2026 West Java Regional Budget (APBD). The project has a budget ceiling of Rp 3 billion and is targeted for completion by December 2026.
