The West Java Provincial Government is strengthening the implementation of inclusive Human Rights (HAM) through cross-sectoral collaboration. This was emphasised by the Vice Governor of West Java, Erwan Setiawan, during an event titled ‘Cross-Sectoral Synergy between the Ministry of Human Rights, Local Government, Society, Communities, and Business Actors’ held at The Papandayan Hotel, Bandung, on Tuesday (28/07/2026).

According to Erwan, strengthening human rights requires the involvement of all elements of society to ensure the impact is felt directly. He noted that this synergy forum is highly strategic, not only for strengthening collaboration between stakeholders but also for aligning perceptions regarding human rights management and assessment indicators.

“This activity is vital for building synergy between institutions, local governments, society, communities, and business actors. Human rights awareness can only grow if all elements of the nation move together,” said Erlar.

He explained that human rights are not merely a matter of fulfilling administrative documents, but rather the foundation of civilisation that reflects respect for human dignity and worth. As a diverse province with the largest population in Indonesia, West Java bears a significant moral responsibility to implement policies based on human rights.

“The strengthening of human rights must be present in every policy, public service, community life, and even in the business world that is oriented towards the public interest,” Erwan added.

Erwan expressed hope that this cross-sectoral synergy forum would not merely serve as a space for discussion but would produce concrete, applicable steps across various fields. “This shows that we are moving from discourse to commitment, and from commitment to real action. Respect for human rights is a collective effort, not the responsibility of a single institution,” he stated.

The Minister of Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Natalius Pigai, appreciated the holding of this synergy forum as part of the effort to ground human rights values within society. Pigai mentioned that one of his ministry’s primary mandates is to build public awareness regarding the importance of human rights as a pillar of civilisational progress.

“This activity is a form of our direct service to the community to build awareness about human rights. When the public understands it, they participate in building a better civilisation,” said Pigai.

He emphasised that human rights values must continue to be applied in all aspects of life, ranging from government administration and the business world to communities, so that the protection of human rights grows into a deeply rooted culture.

Through this strong cross-sectoral synergy, the West Java Provincial Government is committed to creating an inclusive human rights ecosystem. The future success of human rights in West Java will not only be measured by high administrative assessment scores but must also be felt directly through pro-people policies, excellent public services, and a business climate that respects the rights of citizens.
