West Java Prosecutor's Office Receives Case File of Taufik Hidayat for Alleged False Imprisonment and Assault of YTR

The West Java Regional Police officially transferred the case file of suspect Taufik Hidayat to the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The transfer relates to the alleged severe assault and false imprisonment of a woman with the initials YTR in the Bandung area. Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that all administrative investigation documents had been declared complete. “Today, 21 July 2026, we need to convey that investigators from the Directorate of Women and Children Protection and Trafficking in Persons Eradication will transfer the case file to the Public Prosecutor,” Hendra said in Bandung on Tuesday (21/7). He explained that the transfer was carried out after the investigation team completed all stages of the inquiry, including fulfilling the dossier based on technical instructions from the prosecutor’s office. A crucial point in strengthening the case file was the result of a reconstruction held earlier. On 2 July 2026, the West Java Police conducted a reconstruction at the regional police headquarters, presenting the suspect Taufik Hidayat directly. The agenda included 21 scenes covering three key crime scenes. “The reconstruction revealed a series of violent acts committed by the suspect against the victim, resulting in serious injuries. This forms the legal construction we have applied and strengthened with the elements of the relevant articles,” Hendra added. The case drew public attention following the discovery of the alleged false imprisonment of YTR. Based on the initial investigation, the victim was allegedly held captive and abused by the suspect for approximately three years in a boarding house located in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. As a result of the prolonged violence, the victim YTR suffered severe physical impacts. The police affirmed that the transfer of the case file demonstrates their commitment to resolving cases of violence against women transparently and in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
