The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has denied circulating reports claiming that the Deputy Regent of Indramayu, Syaefudin, has been named a suspect in the 2022 Indramayu DPRD housing allowance case. However, authorities revealed that the status of the investigation has been upgraded from a general investigation to a special investigation.

“There has been no designation of a suspect yet,” stated Nur Sricahy_yawijaya, Head of the Civil and Criminal Legal Affairs Division at the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, when contacted on Sunday (7/6/2026).

During a meeting between the Head of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Sutikno, and the Indonesian Legal Community Movement (GMHI) on Friday (5/6/2026), it was disclosed that the investigation into the 2022 Indramayu DPRD housing allowance case has been escalated from a general investigation to a special investigation.

“From a general investigation to a special investigation,” he said.

During the meeting, the Head of the Civil and Criminal Legal Affairs Division, who was also in attendance, revealed that the Head of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office requested the GMHI to help monitor the investigation process. Furthermore, it was ensured that the investigation would proceed.

“There was a request from the Prosecutor’s Office to the GMHI to monitor the investigation. The investigation is continuing,” he stated.

However, he noted that the Head of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office requested that the GMHI avoid making the case go viral. There are concerns that amidst the transition from a general to a special investigation, witnesses being examined might provide inconsistent testimonies.

Regarding statements made by Roy Rovalino, Assistant for Special Crimes at the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, claiming that the Deputy Regent of Indramayu had already been named a suspect, the Head of the Civil and Criminal Legal Affairs Division stated this was incorrect. He clarified that if a suspect is officially designated, it will be released immediately to the mass media.

He added that, following the meeting, no media outlets had interviewed or sought confirmation from him. The Indramayu DPRD housing allowance case surfaced following a report from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), which alleged that allowances were distributed without a legal basis. Additionally, there are allegations of budget misappropriation amounting to Rp 16.8 billion.
