West Java Possesses New Investment Magnets: Patimban and Kertajati
The Rebana region in West Java is being targeted as Indonesia’s new investment magnet. The presence of Patimban Port and Kertajati International Airport serves as the primary capital to elevate this area as a new centre for industry, logistics, and business.
This potential was highlighted during the Rebana Regional Development Co-Creation Seminar: New Business Opportunities and Public-National Partnership in Indonesia, organised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) alongside the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Rebana Regional Management Agency (BP Rebana) of West Java.
The forum, held in Jakarta on 7 September 2026, brought together the government, the business community, and stakeholders to unlock investment opportunities and strengthen public-private partnership schemes.
JICA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of the region, particularly focusing on sustainable industries and logistics hubs centred around Patimban. “Moving forward, JICA will continue to support the development of sustainable industries and logistics hubs anchored by Patimban Port,” stated JICA, as reported on Thursday (10/9/2026).
Since May 2024, JICA has been conducting technical cooperation to support the development of the Rebana Region related to Patimban International Port. This support includes the preparation of regional master plans, the development of a Green Industry Hub, guidelines for environmentally conscious industrial zones, and investment promotion strategies.
The Rebana region has been designated as a National Strategic Project and holds a strategic position in the economic development of West Java. Patimban and Kertajati provide connectivity advantages to support the movement of goods, industrial activities, and investment flows to and from the area.
Several investment opportunities discussed include the development of green industrial zones, the utilisation of renewable energy, the optimisation of Patimban Port, and the development of logistics centres. The government is also encouraging private sector involvement through public-private partnership (PPP) schemes to accelerate the construction of infrastructure and supporting facilities.
During the forum, the JICA project team also presented the achievements in developing the Rebana Regional Development Master Plan and the Green Industry Hub plan. This concept is directed towards building an industrial area that is not only economically competitive but also meets the demands of sustainable investment.
The development of Rebana is becoming increasingly vital amidst the government’s efforts to expand economic growth centres outside of the main metropolitan areas. With its industrial base, port and airport connectivity, and green energy development, this region has the potential to become one of the strategic investment destinations in West Java.
