Bandung (ANTARA) - The West Java Regional Police have transferred the case file of suspect Taufik Hidayat, in a case of alleged aggravated assault and unlawful confinement of a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung, to the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office.

Head of the West Java Regional Police Public Relations Division, Chief Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said the suspect’s case file had been declared administratively complete and could therefore be handed over to the Public Prosecutor without delay.

“Today, on 21 July 2026, we announce that investigators from the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of People Trafficking will transfer the case file to the Public Prosecutor,” Hendra said in Bandung on Tuesday.

Hendra explained that the handover process took place after investigators completed all stages of the investigation and completed the case file in accordance with guidance from the prosecutor’s office.

Hendra said the West Java Regional Police carried out a reconstruction of the case at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on 2 July 2026, with suspect Taufik Hidayat in attendance. During the reconstruction, 21 scenes were re-enacted at three key crime scenes, namely crime scenes 3, 4, and 6.

He said the reconstruction revealed a number of acts of violence committed by the suspect against the victim, resulting in serious injuries.

“This is the legal construction we have applied and reinforced with the elements of the relevant articles,” he said.

Previously, the West Java Regional Police named Taufik Hidayat as a suspect in the case of the confinement and assault of YTR, which allegedly took place over approximately three years at a boarding house in the Cileunyi area of Bandung Regency.

As a result of the incident, the victim sustained a number of serious injuries affecting her physical condition, including impaired vision, difficulty speaking, and being unable to walk normally.
