West Java Police to Sanction Officers Who Ran Red Light at Hotel Indonesia Roundabout

The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) are preparing sanctions for three of its members involved in a viral incident where a Toyota Alphard ran a red light at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout in Central Jakarta.

Head of Public Relations for Polda Jabar, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the three personnel have undergone an examination by the Professional and Security Division (Bid. Propam) of Polda Jabar.

“The examination has been conducted by the Polda Jabar Propam Division on our three members. Sufficient evidence was found of violations of the Indonesian National Police Professional Code of Ethics as stipulated in National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022,” Hendra said in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday.

Hendra explained that the results of the examination will be followed up through the mechanism of a Police Professional Code of Ethics Commission hearing to determine the sanctions for the three officers involved.

“The results will be followed up through the code of ethics process and the Police professional code of ethics hearing,” he added.

“We convey our apologies to the security guard at the HI Roundabout for the arrogant and inappropriate treatment by the three Polda Jabar members,” he said.

According to him, even though a peaceful resolution has been reached between the two parties, the process of enforcing discipline and the code of ethics will continue.

“The peace agreement between the parties does not nullify the code of ethics sanctions against the three individuals, Ipda DG, Bripka BS, and Briptu RPW,” he stated.

Polda Jabar is committed to taking firm and transparent action against any violations committed by its personnel as a form of accountability to the public.

“We, Polda Jabar, are committed and consistent in taking firm and transparent action against any violations committed by members,” Hendra concluded.
