West Java Police to Safeguard Psychological Recovery When Examining Confinement Victim

Bandung Barat (ANTARA) - The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Barat) has assured it will safeguard the psychological recovery of YTR (29), a victim of confinement and abuse by her boyfriend, before proceeding with an examination to support the investigation. West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan stated in Bandung Barat on Tuesday that the victim’s examination would be conducted carefully so as not to disrupt her ongoing trauma recovery. “Of course, this process will continue to consider the psychological recovery of the victim, who has suffered severe trauma. We must ensure that our questions do not disturb her psychologically,” he said. Rudi mentioned that the police have received information that the victim’s condition is improving, prompting investigators to plan to take her statement, which could greatly assist in the pursuit of the perpetrator. “We have received word that the victim is getting better. We will certainly take advantage of this condition to question the victim, as her role is very significant. There is material we need to ask regarding the perpetrator,” he stated. He explained that the victim’s testimony is needed to supplement the information already gathered by the special team formed by the West Java Police to track down the perpetrator. The case drew public attention after YTR was found injured and is believed to have been confined and abused by her boyfriend for three years. The victim is currently undergoing recovery with the assistance of medical personnel and psychologists, while the police continue to pursue the suspect, who remains at large.
