West Java Police: Suspect TH Went on Hotel Date While YTR Was Held Captive

The West Java Regional Police have revealed that Taufik Hidayat (TH), the suspect in the case of kidnapping and severe physical abuse against YTR, went on a date with another woman at a hotel while the victim was being held captive in a boarding house in Bandung Regency.

The Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Police Commissioner Hendra Rochma_wan, stated that this fact emerged from investigators’ findings after CCTV footage circulated on social media, showing TH entering an inn accompanied by a woman.

“The individual has admitted to it, although he has forgotten the specific date and time. However, the person in the CCTV footage is indeed the individual in question, TH himself,” Hendra said in Bandung on Thursday.

Hendra emphasised that the incident occurred while the victim, YTR, was still under the suspect’s control and was allegedly still being held captive and subjected to abuse.

“Regarding the timing, the victim was still under his control. This was certainly an ‘interlude’ carried out while he was performing the kidnapping and severe physical abuse against the victim,” Hendra added.

He noted that investigators are still looking into other circulating information, including allegations that TH took the mobile phone belonging to his date, as well as issues regarding the hotel payment, which was allegedly left unpaid by the suspect.

“We are still investigating these related matters as we have not yet questioned the individual regarding them,” he said.

Previously, TH was named a suspect in the case of kidnapping and physical abuse against YTR, which allegedly lasted for approximately three years in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency.

As a result of the incident, the victim sustained several severe injuries that impacted his physical condition, including impaired vision, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk normally.
