West Java Police have disclosed that Taufik Hidayat (TH), the suspect in the confinement and severe abuse case against YTR, went on a date with another woman at a hotel while the victim was being held captive in a boarding house in Bandung Regency. Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that this fact emerged from investigators’ examinations after CCTV footage circulated on social media showing TH entering a lodging with a woman. “The individual concerned admitted it, but he forgot the date and time. However, the person in the CCTV footage is indeed him, TH,” Hendra said in Bandung on Thursday. Hendra confirmed that the incident occurred while the victim was still under the suspect’s control and is believed to have still been confined and abused. “In terms of the timeline, the victim was still in his control. This was clearly a ‘diversion’ he engaged in while carrying out the confinement and severe abuse of the victim,” Hendra said. He added that investigators are still looking into other circulating information, including allegations that TH took the mobile phone belonging to his date and that the hotel bill had not been paid by the suspect. “We are still investigating these related matters because we have not yet questioned him about them,” he said. TH was previously named a suspect in the confinement and abuse case against YTR, which allegedly lasted for about three years in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered multiple severe injuries affecting his physical condition, including impaired vision, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk normally.
