West Java Police Strengthen Bhabinkamtibmas Role to Maintain Public Security
The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) are strengthening the role of Bhayangkara Pembina Keamanan dan Ketertiban Masyarakat (Bhabinkamtibmas) officers as the front line in maintaining public security and order amidst ever-evolving challenges. West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto stated that security stability in West Java is a crucial foundation for national stability, making synergy between the police and the community essential. “West Java is one of the provinces with the largest population and the highest dynamics in Indonesia. West Java is a centre of economic growth, an industrial area, a food production hub, an education centre, an investment destination, and a region with a strategic national position,” Pipit said in Bandung, West Java, on Friday. He explained that these conditions make security stability in West Java not only important for the local community but also influential for national interests. “Therefore, the security stability of West Java is not only important for the community, but it is also one of the foundations of national stability. However, we must also realise that managing security and public order in such a large and dynamic region is not an easy job,” he stated. Pipit explained that current security and public order challenges are increasingly complex, ranging from rapid social change, the development of digital technology, and economic pressures to disasters, social conflicts, and various forms of criminality. He urged all police personnel, especially Bhabinkamtibmas officers, to be more adaptive and capable of building approaches that align with the evolving situation in society. “Rapid social changes, developments in the digital space, economic pressures, disasters, social conflicts, and various problems in society require us to continuously improve our way of thinking and acting,” he said. He stressed that Bhabinkamtibmas officers hold a strategic role as they are the personnel closest to the community and the first to receive various aspirations and problems from residents. “You are the first to hear and answer the community’s hopes. Therefore, your collaboration is the main strength in maintaining and caring for the security ecosystem in West Java,” Pipit said. According to him, synergy between the police, the government, and the community must be continuously strengthened through the ‘Sabuk Kamtibmas’ programme as a form of togetherness in maintaining environmental security. “This Sabuk Kamtibmas is a manifestation of togetherness and concern, while also affirming that security is our shared responsibility,” he concluded.
