West Java Police Prepare Sanctions for Three Personnel Who Intimidated Security Guard at Bundaran HI
The Head of the Public Relations Division of the West Java Regional Police, Chief Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, has apologised for the arrogant actions of three of its members towards a security officer in the Bundaran HI area of Central Jakarta. The three police officers had jumped a traffic signal at a pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel in the Bundaran HI area and became involved in a quarrel with a security guard named Viktor.
“We convey our apology to Mr Viktor, a security guard in the Bundaran HI area, for the improper actions committed by three members of the West Java Regional Police,” Hendra said in an official statement on Saturday (25/7).
Hendra revealed the identities of the three active Polda Jabar personnel: Ipda DG, Bripka BS and Briptu RPW. Although an amicable settlement has been agreed between the three officers and the victim, Hendra stressed that internal legal proceedings and the institution’s disciplinary examination would continue.
“The findings show sufficient evidence of an alleged violation of the National Police Professional Code of Ethics as regulated in Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022. The next step will be carried out through the mechanism of the National Police Professional Code of Ethics Commission hearing,” Hendra affirmed.
Polda Jabar assured that disciplinary enforcement against its members would be handled firmly, professionally and transparently. Hendra added that public input and criticism regarding this incident would serve as important evaluation material for improving the police institution’s services going forward.
The Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Lieutenant Colonel Ojo Ruslani, confirmed that the traffic violation incident had occurred earlier on Wednesday (22/7).
The Jakarta Provincial Transportation Office (Dishub) affirmed that pedestrians are road users who must be given priority.
