The West Java Regional Police have placed Taufik Hidayat (TH), the suspect in the confinement and abuse case of a woman with the initials YTR (29), in a special cell while undergoing examination at the West Java Police Headquarters. West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan stated that the suspect will be placed alone in a detention room equipped with CCTV cameras and under strict supervision. “We will detain him in a special cell that has been fitted with CCTV, and he will be alone under our supervision,” Rudi said in Bandung on Tuesday (23/6). According to him, investigators are currently conducting an initial examination of the suspect before detention to delve deeper into the case. “Tonight we are conducting the initial examination, after which we will officially detain him, and tomorrow further examinations of the individual will continue,” he stated. “This also involves experts, psychiatric experts, so that we have initial data on the suspect’s mental condition,” he added. He assessed that the alleged actions committed by the suspect against the victim were heinous and beyond the bounds of decency. The results of the examination, he added, indicate damage to several parts of the victim’s body, allegedly resulting from three years of confinement and abuse. “Forensic doctors have been able to identify damaged and non-functioning organs. Among them are the eyes, then the lips, there are slash marks from a sharp object on the legs, then there are cigarette burns and so on,” Rudi said. Previously, West Java Police personnel successfully arrested Taufik Hidayat at a house belonging to a relative of the suspect in Griya Pesona Housing Complex, Ciparay, Bandung Regency, on Tuesday afternoon (23/6).
