West Java Police open possibility of other victims in Taufik Hidayat case
The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) have opened the possibility of other victims in the case of alleged abuse and false imprisonment of a woman with the initials YTR (29), which was allegedly carried out by Taufik Hidayat (30) in Bandung Regency.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Jabar, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated in Bandung on Wednesday that the police are monitoring a number of social media posts from parties claiming to have been victims of the suspect.
“We have received posts on social media from parties claiming to be victims. We are opening space for anyone who feels they are a victim to report,” said Hendra.
“Factually, to date no reports have been submitted to us,” he added.
Hendra said that members of the public who have information or feel they are victims can report through the Directorate of Women and Children Protection and Trafficking in Persons Eradication of Polda Jabar or the 110 emergency service.
According to Hendra, investigators have not yet been able to conclude the suspect’s motive because the examination and collection of evidence are still ongoing.
“Investigators are still completing the evidence and witness statements to comprehensively uncover the series of criminal acts allegedly committed by the suspect,” he said.
Polda Jabar has assured that the handling of the case is being carried out professionally. Developments in the investigation will be conveyed to the public once all facts have been verified.
