The West Java Regional Police are pursuing a man with the initials TH suspected of holding his girlfriend captive and torturing her for around three years in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency, West Java. Director of Women and Children Protection and Trafficking in Persons Crime at the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Rumi Untari, stated that investigators are still searching for the suspect, who has not yet been apprehended. “The pursuit is still in progress,” Rumi said in Bandung on Monday. Regarding the investigation’s progress, she noted that the case is still being examined by investigators, who have questioned several witnesses. Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, explained that the case was uncovered after the victim’s family received a message via WhatsApp from an unknown person informing them that the victim was in the Emergency Department of Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung. “The family then went to the hospital and discovered that the victim had severe injuries to her head, face, and legs, as well as minor injuries to her hands,” he said. Hendra revealed that before being found at the hospital, the victim’s whereabouts had been unknown to her family for approximately three years. “Previously, the victim had disappeared without any news and her whereabouts were unknown for about three years,” he stated. According to Hendra, during that period, the victim is believed to have suffered repeated abuse by the reported perpetrator using hands, blunt objects, and sharp weapons. “It is suspected that during that time, the victim endured abuse from the reported individual using hands, blunt objects, and sharp weapons, and her valuables went missing,” he said. As a result of the alleged abuse, the victim sustained multiple severe injuries affecting her physical condition. “The victim suffered serious injuries, including being unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk, as well as material losses of around Rp52 million,” Hendra added.
