West Java Police Conduct Pre-Reconstruction of Woman's Confinement Case in Bandung

The West Java Regional Police are conducting a pre-reconstruction of the case involving the confinement and severe abuse of a woman, identified by the initials YTR (29), in Bandung Regency, with suspect Taufik Hidayat, to match the statements of witnesses, the victim, and the suspect during the investigation process.

Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that investigators have so far carried out two pre-reconstructions as part of efforts to strengthen the construction of the case.

“The aim is to align it with the statements obtained from witnesses. We have currently conducted two pre-reconstructions,” Hendra said in Bandung on Tuesday.

He explained that the pre-reconstruction will be carried out at four crime scenes that the suspect and the victim occupied during the alleged period of confinement. According to Hendra, this activity aims to ensure the consistency of all information obtained by investigators, including from the victim, whose statement remains limited.

Additionally, investigators are cataloguing several items purchased by the suspect while the victim was allegedly being held captive, including a refrigerator, to determine the purpose of these items within the sequence of criminal acts.

“One of them is a refrigerator, what its purpose was, where it was to be placed, and then there is other evidence, primarily related to the victim’s statement regarding the abuse,” he said.

Hendra added that a psychology team is still conducting a psychiatric examination of the suspect. The examination is being carried out in stages as part of the deepening investigation.

“All of this is directed towards how we adjust the legal construction we are applying so that it fulfils all elements of proof,” he said.

He also urged members of the public who believe they may have been victims of the suspect to report to the West Java Police immediately.

“We have received social media posts from individuals claiming to be victims. We are open to anyone who feels they are a victim to come forward and report it,” Hendra said.
