West Java Police Complete Case File on Woman's Confinement in Bandung

West Java Regional Police have completed the case file for suspect Taufik Hidayat in the alleged severe abuse and confinement of a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung, paving the way for its immediate transfer to the prosecutor’s office.

Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the case file is administratively complete, although investigators are still conducting in-depth checks on witness statements. “The case file is now complete in terms of administration, but of course, we need to delve deeper and cross-check with the witnesses related to what the suspect did,” Hendra said in Bandung on Monday.

He noted that a reconstruction revealed a series of violent acts committed by the suspect against the victim, resulting in serious injuries. “This is the legal construction we have applied and strengthened with the elements of the article,” he said.

Hendra added that investigators are still reinforcing the case through examinations of expert witnesses and other related parties. To date, investigators from the Directorate of Women and Children Protection and the Eradication of Human Trafficking of the West Java Police have examined around 31 witnesses. He assured that the case file will be handed over to the prosecutor’s office as soon as the examination of witness statements is completed. “As soon as possible. We are still looking into two witnesses,” Hendra said.

Meanwhile, Hendra confirmed that Taufik Hidayat remains in detention at the West Java Police detention centre under strict supervision, with no special treatment given to the suspect during the legal process. “We are currently conditioning it this way. Because other detainees are also aware of this information. We will try to secure him, and later the recommendation will be combined with the others,” Hendra concluded.
