West Java Police Chief Orders Increased Patrols Amid Public Anxiety Over Rising Crime
West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto has revealed that he has instructed his ranks to increase routine patrols and deploy all personnel to crime-prone locations. He expressed hope that the measure would provide a sense of safety and comfort to the public.
“The national assembly, salam jawara. The aim is for us to understand the dynamic situation that changes and develops quickly, and we are aware of the public anxiety regarding the security situation in West Java,” said the West Java Police Chief on the sidelines of the national assembly at the Monumen Perjuangan (Monju) in Bandung City, Friday (14/8/2026).
The Police Chief said the purpose of the assembly was to enhance and strengthen the commitment to ensuring the public feels safe, comfortable and at peace. Previously, the West Java Regional Police deployed thousands of personnel to crime and congestion hotspots within the jurisdiction of West Java. The measure was taken to provide a sense of safety and comfort to the people of West Java.
Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said the deployment of personnel at crucial points had succeeded in dispersing vehicle build-ups. This preventive measure is part of the West Java Regional Police’s commitment to providing a sense of security and responsive service to the people of West Java.
“Strict supervision and humane traffic management have succeeded in reducing the number of violations while minimising the potential for traffic accidents during peak hours,” he said on Tuesday (11/8/2026).
He stated that the supervision and management of traffic flow would continue to be carried out periodically at vulnerable points. The West Java Regional Police also urged all levels of society to continuously improve driving awareness. In addition, the public is asked to comply with the instructions of officers in the field and to prioritise safety as a shared need on the road.
