West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto has instructed officers to take firm action against street robbers (begal). He made the commitment after receiving public aspirations regarding the rampant crime, during a community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas) assembly at the West Java Police Headquarters in Bandung on Friday. “We have received aspirations from the community, and one of the most frequently voiced concerns is the issue of begal,” he said. He emphasized that he has instructed all personnel, including Bhabinkamtibmas officers, to take firm and measured action. “I have committed that during my tenure as West Java Police Chief, we will take firm and measured action against begal,” he stated. He also called on all elements of society to work together with the police to prevent these crimes from recurring. “We hope that all parties, including the community, wherever they are, do not want acts of begal to happen again,” he added. The police force is committed to moving quickly and collaborating with all community elements to ensure the implementation of duties meets public expectations.
