West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan has assured that the operational Jakarta–Cikampek II South (Japek II South) toll road will function as an alternative route during the 2026 Lebaran exodus and return journey.

“As an alternative route, the Japek II South toll road will be activated if congestion occurs on the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road in the Karawang area, West Java,” said the police chief during an inspection of the route in the Sadang area, Purwakarta, on Wednesday.

He stated that the functional Japek II South stretch between Sadang and Situ Bekasi, spanning approximately 52 kilometres, would be focused as an alternative route, particularly during return traffic from Bandung towards Jakarta to relieve vehicular congestion.

Regarding a landslide that occurred on the Japek II South toll road, the police chief confirmed that the route’s current condition is safe for traffic following inspections and coordination with toll operator Jasa Marga.

The route inspection was also attended by Karawang Police Chief Senior Commissioner Fiki Novian Ardiansyah.

The Karawang Police Chief expressed readiness to support security and traffic management during the Lebaran exodus and return journey, particularly if the Japek II South toll road is activated to alleviate vehicular congestion.
