Cianjur (ANTARA) - The West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Pipit Rismante, believes that the Ayam Pelung monument, crafted from hundreds of noisy exhaust pipes seized during raids by the Cianjur Police, is more than just a monument; it serves as a reminder for parents to supervise their children.

“This Ayam Pelung monument on the main route of Cianjur Regency serves as a message that no more motorists should use noisy exhausts on their motorcycles,” said Pipit following the inauguration of the monument in Cianjur on Wednesday.

He explained that the three-metre-high monument, shaped like an Ayam Pelung chicken at the entrance to Cianjur City, acts as a memorial for motorists and parents to ensure children always obey traffic rules and avoid violations.

“The goal is that moving forward, there will be no more motorists, especially teenagers in Cianjur, using noisy exhausts on their motorcycles that can disturb the hearing and comfort of other motorists and the general public,” he added.

Cianjur Police Chief, AKBP Alexander Yurikho Hadi, stated that the Ayam Pelung monument, intended as an icon for Cianjur Regency, was created using 349 noisy exhaust pipes and was built at the intersection of Jalan Dr Muwardi, Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim, and Jalan Raya Bandung.

“The monument, located at the entrance to Cianjur City, was built not only to beautify the landscape but also to serve as a reminder for motorists to stop using noisy exhausts on their vehicles, as raids on noisy exhausts will continue to be conducted,” he said.

He revealed that over the past few months, the police have taken action against approximately 5,424 motor vehicles, 3,060 of which were penalised for using noisy exhausts, with owners being required to replace them with original factory-standard pipes.

“From those thousands of noisy exhausts, we have created a monument featuring the characteristic Cianjur Ayam Pelung using 349 pieces, while the remainder will be destroyed,” he said.

He added that to ensure no more motorists violate the law, raids on noisy exhausts will continue to be carried out to create a safe and comfortable Cianjur without noise pollution and to reduce the number of traffic violators.

“The efforts will not stop after the inauguration of the exhaust pipe monument; officers will continue to intensify random raids to ensure that no more violations are committed by motorists, particularly those using noisy exhausts,” he concluded.
