West Java Police Arrest Taufik Hidayat for Assault in Bandung; Governor Demands Proportionate Punishment
The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) have arrested Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the assault and confinement case against Yuvita Tri Rezeki, which resulted in her blindness, in Majalaya, Bandung Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (23/6/2026). The news of the arrest was immediately shared by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi via his Instagram account.
Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, confirmed that investigators had apprehended the perpetrator within the jurisdiction of the Bandung Police, specifically in Majalaya. “Polda Jabar has arrested the perpetrator of the assault and confinement, Taufik Hidayat, within the jurisdiction of the Bandung Police, precisely in Majalaya,” he stated on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi commended the police for their swift action in capturing the suspect. KDM, as he is familiarly known, expressed gratitude that the perpetrator was caught in Majalaya, Bandung Regency. “On behalf of the people of West Java, on behalf of humanity, on behalf of law enforcement, and on behalf of our conscience, we extend our deepest gratitude and highest appreciation to the West Java Police Chief and all ranks, including the Directorate of General Crime, the Directorate of Special Crime, the Cyber Directorate, and the Directorate of Women and Children Services, for swiftly apprehending the barbaric perpetrator Taufik Hidayat in Majalaya,” he said.
He expressed hope that the perpetrator would receive a punishment proportionate to his actions. “May Taufik Hidayat receive a punishment commensurate with his deeds, which have transgressed the boundaries of humanity,” he stated. The West Java Police had previously named the perpetrator a suspect and placed him on the wanted persons list (DPO). The victim, Yuvita Tri Rezeki, suffered blindness and severe injuries as a result of the perpetrator’s actions. Yuvita is currently receiving treatment at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.
