West Java Police Apologise After Officers Clash with Security Guard at Bundaran HI

The West Java Regional Police have confirmed they will continue to process alleged violations committed by their members against a security guard named Fiktor Harefa, 27, despite both parties having reached a peace agreement. Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, conveyed an apology to the victim for the inappropriate actions of the officers. “The West Java Regional Police apologise to Mr Fiktor, a security guard in the Bundaran HI area, for the inappropriate actions committed by three of our members,” he said on Sunday, 26 July 2026. Hendra explained that the internal examination process is still ongoing. An inspection by the Professionalism and Security Division (Bidpropam) of the West Java Police found sufficient evidence of alleged violations of the Police Professional Code of Ethics, as stipulated in Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022. The next stage will be carried out through a Police Code of Ethics Commission hearing. In addition to facing the ethics hearing, the West Java Police officers have been placed in a special holding facility during the investigation process. The West Java Police emphasised they will act firmly, professionally, and transparently against any violations committed by their members. The force also expressed appreciation for public criticism and input as part of efforts to evaluate and improve public services. The incident went viral on social media after a Toyota Alphard was seen running a red light at a pedestrian crossing near the TransJakarta Bundaran HI bus stop. The driver’s action was reprimanded by a security guard who was helping pedestrians cross. However, the driver of the Alphard did not accept the reprimand, leading to the security guard being taken to a nearby police post. CCTV footage uploaded to the Instagram account @kabarjakpus24 showed the pedestrian crossing light was already red, and other vehicles at the location had stopped.
