West Java Police Apologise After Officers Clash with Security Guard at Bundaran HI

The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Barat) have confirmed they will continue processing suspected misconduct committed by three of its officers against a security guard named Fiktor Harefa (27), despite the two parties having reached an amicable settlement.

Head of Public Relations at Polda Jawa Barat, Chief Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, extended an apology to the victim for the improper actions carried out by the officers.

“Polda Jawa Barat offers its apology to Mr Fiktor, a security guard in the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area, for the improper conduct of three Polda Jawa Barat officers,” he said, quoted on Sunday, 26 July 2026.

Hendra explained that the internal examination process would continue even though a reconciliation had taken place between the parties.

The examination conducted by the Professional Standards and Internal Supervision Division (Bidpropam) of Polda Jawa Barat found indications of violations of the National Police Professional Code of Ethics by the three personnel.

“The results found sufficient evidence of suspected violations of the National Police Professional Code of Ethics as regulated under Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022. The next step will be carried out through the mechanism of the National Police Code of Ethics Commission hearing,” he said.

In addition to being processed through the Code of Ethics Commission hearing, the Polda Jabar officers have also been placed in special quarters (patsus) while the examination is under way.

Polda Jawa Barat stressed that it will act firmly, professionally and transparently against any misconduct committed by its members.

Furthermore, the police also expressed appreciation for criticism and input from the public as part of efforts to evaluate and improve services to the community.

As previously reported, a video went viral on social media showing a Toyota Alphard running a red light at a pedestrian crossing near the Hotel Indonesia TransJakarta bus stop. The driver’s actions were immediately challenged by a security guard who was assisting pedestrians across the crossing.

However, the Alphard driver refused to accept the reprimand. As a result, the security guard was immediately assaulted and taken to the police post near the location.

So what actually happened? In CCTV footage uploaded to the Instagram account @kabarjakpus24, the pedestrian crossing light at the bus stop is shown displaying red. Several vehicles at the location had also already stopped.
