The construction of Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II in Sukamahi Village, Cikarang Pusat, Bekasi Regency, is entering its final completion phase. Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is optimistic that the boarding school concept can begin operations in the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The optimism was conveyed following a Specific Working Visit by Commission V to the construction site on Friday (12/6/2026). During the visit, council members directly inspected the construction progress being undertaken by PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero). Deputy Chairman of Commission V, Syaiful Huda, assessed that construction progress was showing positive results despite a relatively limited implementation timeframe. However, he stressed that construction quality must remain the priority until the project is completed. Commission V also requested PT Brantas Abipraya and the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure at the Ministry of Public Works to continue monitoring and supervision to ensure all works are completed according to target. During the visit, Commission V inspected several main facilities under construction, including classrooms, male and female dormitories, teacher flats, and the kitchen. Discussions also covered spatial integration, given the People’s School adopts a boarding school concept that will accommodate students at elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels. Corporate Secretary of PT Brantas Abipraya, Dian Sovana, said that the construction of Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II has now entered its final stage. According to her, all stakeholders are continuing to accelerate work and enforce strict supervision so that all facilities can function optimally when the new academic year begins. ‘We welcome the working visit by Commission V as a form of support and oversight for the construction of Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II. The input provided motivates Brantas Abipraya to continue maintaining work quality while ensuring the project is completed according to the target set by the government,’ said Dian on Monday (15/6/2026). Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II is designed to accommodate approximately 900 to 1,080 students, divided into 36 study groups. The programme is part of the government’s effort to provide free and high-quality education access for people in decile 1 and decile 2, or the poor and extreme poor groups. Besides expanding educational access, the presence of the People’s School is expected to become a means of developing superior human resources through an integrated learning environment with adequate supporting facilities. Dian stated that Sekolah Rakyat is a programme with a significant social impact because it opens educational access for communities in need. Therefore, PT Brantas Abipraya is making efforts to ensure construction proceeds according to the established quality standards and time targets. ‘As a state-owned construction enterprise, Brantas Abipraya is proud to contribute to realising this programme and will continue to support the development of inclusive and sustainable educational infrastructure that provides long-term benefits for the nation’s future generations,’ said Dian.
