West Java LPTQ Welcomes Provincial Government's Decision to Directly Host MTQ

The implementation of the West Java provincial-level Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) has been confirmed to proceed. The West Java Provincial Government has decided to take over the role of host directly, following the Garut Regency Government’s withdrawal as the event organiser. Chairman of the West Java Institute for Quranic Recitation Development (LPTQ), Asep Sukmana, welcomed the decision positively. The competition is planned to be held in early 2027. The opening ceremony is being prepared to take place at Gedung Sate, with a grand closing at the Al-Jabbar Mosque. Asep expressed deep appreciation for the provincial government’s swift action in rescuing this religious agenda. He noted that the event serves as an important means to increase the younger generation’s interest in reading and internalising the Quran. Furthermore, the MTQ functions as a medium for Islamic outreach to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among Muslims. ‘I would like to thank the West Java Provincial Government for being willing to host the West Java MTQ,’ Asep said in a written statement on Tuesday (4/8/2026). The certainty of the MTQ’s implementation has also been officially disseminated to all relevant parties. The information was conveyed to all chairpersons of LPTQ at the regency and city levels across West Java on 2 August 2026. The religious event was previously on the verge of cancellation due to the Garut Regency Government’s inadequate financial condition. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi fully understood the financial situation faced by the Garut Regency Government. He personally intervened to ensure the provincial government’s readiness to act as the replacement host. The figure familiarly known as KDM expressed his hope that the competition would be conducted honestly, particularly during the judging phase. Integrity in assessment is considered crucial as this event is a noble momentum to spread Islamic teachings. The activity also serves as a strategic platform for teaching the noble values of the Quran to the wider community.
