Bandung (ANTARA) - Member of Commission IV of the West Java Provincial Legislative Council, M Faizin, is urging the West Java Provincial Government to continue and expand the scope of stage house construction for residents frequently affected by flooding in the Pondok Gede Permai area, Bekasi City. This step is considered urgent because there are still around 80 families in that flood-prone area who have not yet received housing assistance, and the construction realisation has only targeted a small portion of residents. “We hope this programme can continue to be developed so that all flood-affected residents can experience the same solution. Thus, the impact of flooding can be significantly minimised,” said M Faizin in a statement in Bandung on Friday. Based on field data, the realisation of stage house construction at the location has only reached 10 units this year 2026, plus eight units that were completed in the previous year. Pondok Gede Permai was selected as a priority location because it is an area that is flooded almost every year due to river overflow. The stage house concept is considered a concrete solution for communities needing safe yet disaster-adaptive housing. “This area is a regular flood victim every year; with this stage house concept, it is hoped that residents remain safe even if water inundates the lower part of the house,” he said. This innovative programme costs around Rp125 million per unit. Technically, this housing uses precast concrete materials meeting national standards (SNI) that guarantee building strength. The main structure is even claimed to be installable in just two days. “Overall, the construction is completed in about four months until it is ready to be occupied,” Faizin stated.
