West Java Legislator Prioritises Landslide Prevention in Kuningan
Kuningan (ANTARA) - A member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Gerindra Party faction, Tina Wiryawati, is prioritising landslide prevention efforts in the residential area of Cigadung, Kuningan Regency, West Java, through the construction of a retaining wall (TPT) as an initial mitigation measure. During a recess activity in Kuningan on Thursday, Tina stated that the need for the TPT construction became a primary concern after her office received reports and observed the landslide conditions occurring in the area. According to her, the level of damage caused is quite serious because the landslide has approached residents’ homes, requiring the fastest possible handling. “From the information and documentation I received, the landslide conditions at the location indeed require immediate handling,” she said. She explained that initial handling is crucial so that the impact of the landslide does not spread and threaten more buildings around the site. “The initial step that needs to be taken is the construction of a TPT to reduce greater risks,” she stated. She mentioned that the process of providing the field is underway with the hope that it will soon be utilised by the community, especially the youth. “Sports facilities such as a football field are needed by the community. The hope is that this facility can be available soon and provide benefits for children and the younger generation,” she said. She emphasised that the existence of adequate sports facilities can support positive activities as well as the development of sports talent at the regional level. Tina also assessed that community empowerment programmes in Cigadung, Kuningan need to be prepared in a planned manner, including through the utilisation of the town square area as a space for residents’ activities. She stated that community empowerment must be carried out sustainably so that its benefits can be felt in the long term. “The programmes implemented need to have a clear and sustainable concept so that they do not only last momentarily, but truly provide an impact for the community,” she said.
