West Java Legislator: Cirebon Has the Assets to Become a Main Pillar of the Rebana Region
A member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Daddy Rohanady, stated that the city of Cirebon possesses strong assets to become one of the main pillars for the development of the Rebana area, as it is supported by relatively more complete supporting facilities compared to several other regions. According to him, Cirebon’s position within the Rebana area cannot be viewed in isolation, given the region’s readiness in terms of supporting infrastructure, especially the hotel sector and services needed to sustain economic activity. “If you look at it, one of the cities or regencies that is complete in terms of hotels is Cirebon,” he said when confirmed in Cirebon on Wednesday. He noted that the availability of these facilities is an advantage that Cirebon can leverage to support investment growth, business, and community mobility in the Rebana area. Daddy assessed that the development of the Rebana area must also be supported by the optimisation of two strategic infrastructures, namely the West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati in Majalengka and Patimban Port in Subang. “The successful development of these two facilities will have a positive impact on West Java’s economic growth, including the areas within the Rebana region,” he said. He expressed hope that Kertajati Airport and Patimban Port can develop according to plan, thereby becoming drivers of new economic activity in the northern and eastern parts of West Java. “I truly hope these two become the economic lever for West Java. If these are big, I am sure West Java will also be big,” he stated. Daddy said the two facilities hold a strategic position as gateways that can strengthen connectivity and support the flow of goods, services, and investment. Therefore, he is optimistic that the central government has a clear development direction, particularly for Kertajati Airport, so that its economic benefits are increasingly felt by the public and business actors. “Certainty of function and a development roadmap for Kertajati Airport will help drive the growth of various economic sectors connected to the Rebana area,” he said. Besides its economic potential, Daddy assessed that Cirebon also possesses historical and cultural strengths that can provide added value in supporting the area’s development. “The existence of the Kasepuhan, Kanoman, Keprabonan, and Kacirebonan Palaces is historical evidence that remains preserved to this day, while strengthening Cirebon’s position as a region with an important role in the development of West Java and Indonesia,” he remarked. Meanwhile, based on published data from the Rebana Area Management Agency, total investment entering the region reached Rp6.49 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. For the city of Cirebon, investment realisation during that period reached Rp262 billion.
