West Java Leads National Archives Awards 2026 in Recognition of Historical Legacy Preservation
The West Java Provincial Government received two prestigious awards at the 2026 Archives Awards ceremony held during the 55th National Archives Day celebration at the Indonesian National Archives (ANRI) Building C in Jakarta on Wednesday 20 May 2026.
Beyond the provincial level, two regencies in West Java also received similar honours: Purwakarta Regency Local Government and Bogor Regency Local Government.
The first award received by West Java was the 2026 Best National Network Hub Award for the National Archives Information System (SIKN) and National Archives Information Network (JIKN). The award was presented directly to West Java’s Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan by ANRI Head Mego Pinandito.
Setiawan described the award as evidence that West Java consistently honours every trace of historical memory. He stated that archives are not merely piles of paper but rather the compass of civilisation.
“Without orderly memory, we will lose our way,” he said.
West Java received a second award: the 2026 National Archives Supervision Award with a score of 95.96, placing it in the AA category of “highly satisfactory”.
In response to the two awards, Setiawan expressed appreciation to the West Java Regional Library and Archives Service (Dispusipda) for their dedicated work in protecting archives. He called upon all parties to use the awards as motivation to improve performance and services to the public.
Purwakarta Regency Local Government received the 2026 National Exemplary Network Hub Award in the regency/city network hub category. Bogor Regency Local Government received the 2026 National Archives Supervision Award with a score of 93.97, placing it in the AA category of “highly satisfactory”.
