West Java Launches 'Jabar Berseka' Movement to Make Waste Sorting a Cultural Norm

Thousands of participants gathered at the Arcamanik Sports Complex (SOR Arcamanik) in Bandung to launch a movement promoting environmental stewardship through the culture of sorting waste from home. Following the ‘Jabar Berseka’ alert assembly and a joint declaration on household waste sorting, participants immediately conducted a mass environmental clean-up, symbolising the start of a sustainable waste management drive. The activity involved 4,200 participants, including students, Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers, volunteers, and sanitation workers. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan and West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi attended the event and delivered remarks. The provincial government is encouraging the involvement of various community elements, from students to local communities, in building responsible waste management habits. This clean-up and waste sorting action is intended as a first step towards building a sustainable environmental culture and raising public awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness, starting from the family environment.
