West Java HUT RI Ceremony to be Held at Newly Revamped Gedung Sate Courtyard

This will be the first time. Previously, the ceremony venue was Gasibu Square.

Bandung (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has confirmed that the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia ceremony at the West Java provincial level on Monday (17/8) will be held in the courtyard of Gedung Sate, which has just been redeveloped (unified with Gasibu), while also inaugurating the results of its revitalisation.

The ceremony in the Gedung Sate courtyard will also be the first moment in the history of West Java provincial-level Independence Day commemorations, which have frequently been held in the Gasibu Square area of Bandung.

Dedi in Bandung on Friday emphasised that the relocation of the ceremony venue from Gasibu Square to the Gedung Sate courtyard was designed so that the documentation backdrop of the raising of the Red and White flag would aesthetically display the full landscape of Gedung Sate.

In addition to the change of venue, Dedi has also completely overhauled the formation of the ceremony participants for this year’s Independence Day event.

Unlike in previous years, the flag ceremony formation this time will be filled only by TNI and Polri personnel in order to maintain order, discipline and the sanctity of the procession, while Satpol PP ranks are specifically assigned to the troop parade.

Conversely, civil servants and students are not required to stand in formal formations. The general public is instead openly invited to attend, watch and sit casually while observing the ceremony in the Gedung Sate courtyard.

In terms of the infrastructure arrangement of Gedung Sate-Gasibu, Dedi confirmed that the physical revitalisation of the landscape and the Gedung Sate building has been completed, including work on the main gate and archway, which is targeted for completion on Sunday (16/8).

He claimed that the physical restoration of the iconic cultural heritage building of Bandung City was carried out carefully based on preservation regulations, including the use of a special museum-standard paint formula.

“So now it uses paint that meets the standards in accordance with the provisions of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Centre,” said Dedi, referring to the new appearance of Gedung Sate, which now appears painted white, particularly the fence sections.
