West Java High Prosecutor's Office Reschedules Indramayu Deputy Regent's Questioning
Bandung - The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has rescheduled the examination of Indramayu Deputy Regent Syafrudin as a suspect after he failed to appear before investigators in a case of alleged corruption related to DPRD allowances, citing illness.
Syafrudin (S) was supposed to be questioned alongside two other key officials, IM and AF, regarding alleged corruption in housing and transport allowances for leaders and members of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022-2025 fiscal years.
“One suspect, S, did not attend today’s examination due to illness and has submitted a sick note to the investigative team. We will reschedule,” said Head of Legal Information at the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, confirmed in Bandung on Friday.
Cahyawijaya stated that the rescheduling was necessary because the prosecutor’s office had only just received Syafrudin’s sick note. However, she confirmed that the Special Crimes (Pidsus) investigators would soon issue a second summons to resolve the corruption case that has caused state losses.
Cahyawijaya explained that the alleged corruption was committed by S during his tenure as Chairman of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period. The other two suspects who complied with the summons are former secretariat officials. IM previously served as Acting Secretary of the Indramayu DPRD, while AF was the Secretary of the Indramayu DPRD for the 2022-2025 period. Unlike the Deputy Regent, both IM and AF underwent intensive questioning from Friday morning until the afternoon.
“Today, the Special Crimes investigators of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office summoned three suspects in the alleged corruption case involving housing and transport allowances for leaders and members of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022 to 2025 fiscal years,” Cahyawijaya stated.
“Regarding the material of the examination or the results of yesterday’s search, I cannot disclose them yet because the examination process is still ongoing,” she added.
This suspect examination follows swift action by the Kejati Jabar investigative team, which previously searched the Indramayu DPRD building to secure supporting documents.
