The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has named Indramayu Deputy Regent Syaefudin, along with two other individuals, as suspects in a case of alleged corruption concerning housing and transport allowances for members of the Indramayu Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for the 2022–2025 fiscal years. Head of Legal Information at the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated that the three suspects had been summoned for questioning by the Special Crimes Unit investigators. “Today, examinations were conducted on two suspects, identified as IM and AF. One suspect, identified as S (Syaefudin), did not attend the examination due to illness and has submitted a medical certificate to the investigation team,” Cahya said in Bandung on Friday. Cahya noted that besides Syaefudin, the other two suspects are AF, the Secretary of the Indramayu Regency DPRD, and IM, who served as Acting Secretary of the DPRD during the 2021–2022 period. According to Cahya, based on the state financial loss calculation from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the case has caused state losses of approximately Rp18 billion. “Regarding this alleged corruption case, according to the state loss calculation from the BPK, the value reaches approximately Rp18 billion. The individual concerned was at that time the Chairperson of the Indramayu Regency DPRD and is now the Deputy Regent of Indramayu,” he said. The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has not yet disclosed the detailed modus operandi or the construction of the case implicating the three suspects, as the investigation is still ongoing. Investigators are still awaiting the examination of Syaefudin, who was absent from the initial questioning. “Regarding the modus operandi or the chronology of the case, we will convey the developments later because one suspect has not yet been examined,” Cahya stated. He added that investigators have not yet taken any detention measures against the three suspects. The decision regarding detention will be determined based on the results of further examinations by the investigation team. “For now, we have not taken any coercive measures (detention) against the three suspects. Because we have just received notification that the individual concerned could not attend due to illness, it will be rescheduled,” Cahya said.
