West Java High Prosecutor's Office Examines Indramayu Deputy Regent as Suspect in DPRD Corruption Case

The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has interrogated the Deputy Regent of Indramayu, Syaefudin, as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving housing and transport allowances for members of the Indramayu Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for the 2022-2025 fiscal years.

The Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated that the interrogation was conducted by investigators from the Special Crimes division in accordance with the summons issued to the suspect.

“In accordance with the summons issued to the suspect, S, the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office investigation team is currently conducting an interrogation of the suspect within the Special Crimes division, where the suspect is accompanied by legal counsel,” said Cahya in Bandung on Monday (2/22), as reported by Antara.

He explained that this was the first time Syaefudin had been interrogated as a suspect, after previously failing to respond to two summons from investigators.

“This is the second summons for the suspect,” he added.

In this case, investigators have also named two other suspects, namely officials within the Indramayu Regency DPRD Secretariat with the initials IM and AF.

Cahya stated that investigators are continuing to delve into the case through the interrogation of the suspects and do not rule out the possibility of further developments.

“There are no new suspects yet, as the investigation process is still ongoing,” he said.

According to Cahya, based on the state loss calculations from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the case has resulted in state losses of approximately Rp18 billion.

“Regarding this alleged corruption, according to the state loss calculations from the BPK, the value reaches approximately Rp18 billion. The individual in question was the Chairman of the Indramayu Regency DPRD at that time and is now the Deputy Regent of Indramayu for the 2024-2029 period,” Cahya stated.

The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has not yet disclosed the specific modus operandi or the legal construction of the case involving the three suspects, as the investigation and interrogation processes are still underway.
