West Java High Prosecutor's Office Examines Indramayu Deputy Regent as Suspect in DPRD Corruption Case
The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has examined Indramayu Deputy Regent Syaefudin as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption concerning housing and transport allowances for members of the Indramayu Regency Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) for the 2022-2025 fiscal year. Head of Legal Information at the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated that the examination was conducted by investigators from the Special Crimes Unit (Pidsus) in accordance with a summons letter sent to the suspect. “In accordance with the summons letter we sent to suspect S, the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office investigative team is currently examining the suspect at the Pidsus section, where the suspect is accompanied by legal counsel,” Cahya said in Bandung on Monday (22/6), as quoted by Antara. She explained that this examination marked the first time Syaefudin was questioned as a suspect, after previously failing to comply with two summonses from investigators. “This is the second invitation for the suspect,” she said. In this case, investigators have also named two other suspects, namely officials within the Secretariat of the Indramayu Regency DPRD with the initials IM and AF. Cahya stated that investigators are continuing to delve deeper into the case through examinations of the suspects and have not ruled out the possibility of further developments. “There are no new suspects yet, because the investigation process is still ongoing,” she said. According to Cahya, based on the state loss calculation from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the case has resulted in state losses of approximately Rp18 billion. “Regarding this alleged corruption crime, according to the state loss calculation from the BPK, the value reaches approximately Rp18 billion. The individual concerned was at that time the Chairman of the Indramayu Regency DPRD and is now the Deputy Regent of Indramayu for the 2024-2029 period,” Cahya stated. The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has not yet disclosed in detail the modus operandi or the construction of the case implicating the three suspects, as the investigation and examination process is still ongoing.
