The West Java Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) has reported 65 positive cases of Influenza A, also known as swine flu (H1N1), detected across 27 regencies and cities. Half of these cases originated from Bandung City.

“The highest number is in Bandung with 35 cases, (the rest) are in several other cities and regencies,” said the Head of the West Java Provincial Health Office, Vini Adiani Dewi, when contacted on Tuesday (23/09/2026).

She stated that the data was obtained from hospitals treating influenza cases. Vini advised members of the public experiencing influenza or shortness of breath to seek immediate medical attention at health facilities.

“If anyone experiences shortness of breath and symptoms become more severe, please seek treatment at a hospital,” she said.

Vini also advised those travelling or engaging in activities to wear masks to anticipate flu transmission. She urged the public not to worry about the rise in cases.

“Do not worry, and do not panic excessively,” she added.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has noted an increase in influenza activity in Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region. However, the Ministry stated that the situation is not yet alarming, referring to surveillance results up to week 38 of 2026.

According to that data, the increase in influenza remains within a medium range. “There is indeed an increase in influenza cases, particularly in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. However, based on the surveillance data we have, the condition is still within the medium range,” said the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (23/09/2026).

In Indonesia, sentinel surveillance results showed an influenza positivity rate of 56 per cent in week 38. In community health centre (puskesmas) surveillance, influenza activity is in the medium category, while hospital surveillance remains in the low category.
