West Java Governor to Issue Circular: Impoverished Residents Do Not Need to Hold Wedding Parties, KUA Suffices
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWAKARTA – West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has urged Gen Z to refrain from forcing themselves to hold expensive wedding parties. He believes the money would be better spent on buying a house.
“My message is, it’s better to use the money for the wedding party to buy a house. Rather than being a king for one night and suffering the next day,” he said at the Nusantara Hall of the National Heritage Housing, Purwakarta, on Tuesday night (14/4/2026).
He even stated that he would issue a circular so that people do not need to force themselves to hold lavish wedding parties if they lack the funds.
“Later, the governor will issue the circular; for those who do not have sufficient financial capacity, they do not need to have a wedding party when getting married, just get married at the KUA,” said KDM, the governor’s familiar nickname.
He also opined that there is no problem if one can only afford a subsidised house at an affordable price with cheap instalments. After purchasing, the house must be well maintained.
KDM added that for low-income residents, there are several schemes that can be followed to own a house, such as subsidised houses, house renovations, and affordable apartments.
