West Java Governor Reveals Taufik Hidayat Sought Meeting Before Arrest in Abuse Case
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has revealed new facts regarding Taufik Hidayat, stating that the suspect had attempted to find him earlier this year. The revelation was made during a conversation with the parents of the victim, identified as Irin.
“So Taufik Hidayat tried to find me at my post while I was looking for the CCTV footage. He came here and contacted Pak Wawan, and he sent me a direct message on Instagram, but the admin did not pass it on to me,” Dedi Mulyadi said, as quoted from a YouTube broadcast on Kang Dedi Mulyadi Channel, Sunday, 28 June 2026.
Dedi Mulyadi further revealed that Taufik Hidayat had attempted to meet him to provide clarification regarding reports that he had held YTR captive and abused her. Based on these facts, Dedi suspects that Taufik had been staying not far from the victim’s family environment all along.
“Pak Wawan conveyed that Taufik contacted him several times wanting to meet me to provide clarification and explain the accusations. So, it means he was not far away before he was finally arrested. He had already come to the post and was advised to go to Pakuan Building because I was not there,” Dedi continued.
Dedi Mulyadi also disclosed that, according to Wawan’s account, Taufik Hidayat was still taking YTR everywhere he went until early 2026. He even brought her to Wawan’s office, although by that time she was already wearing a mask.
“Until early 2026, Pak Wawan said she was still being taken along to his office, but she was already wearing a mask. So, she was not far away until early 2026; she was still in Bandung. According to information from Pak Dadang, Taufik said that Vita’s eyesight was already failing. She was wearing glasses, that was in early 2026,” the West Java Governor said.
For context, a woman from Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java, is suspected of being a victim of kidnapping and abuse by her boyfriend. The woman, identified by the initials YTR, was allegedly held captive by the suspect, Taufik Hidayat, in a rented room and was reported missing by her family for three years.
