West Java Governor Responds to Arrest of Taufik, Who Held Girlfriend Captive for 3 Years in Bandung
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, known as KDM, has responded to news of the arrest of Taufik Hidayat (30), the perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of a woman in Cileunyi, Bandung, by the police. He stated that Taufik, the suspect in the confinement and torture of a woman with the initials YTR (29) for at least three years, deserves punishment.
"I hope Taufik Hidayat receives a punishment commensurate with his actions, which violated the boundaries of humanity," he said in a post on his Instagram social media account on Tuesday (23/6) evening. On that occasion, KDM also expressed appreciation for the police’s swift action in capturing Taufik after the case came to light last week when the victim was found by her family.
Prior to his arrest, Taufik was being sought by law enforcement over the alleged confinement and torture of a woman with the initials YTR. Most recently, YTR was held captive in a rented room in Cinunuk Village, Cileunyi District, Bandung Regency. When confirming Taufik’s arrest, West Java Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated he could not yet provide further details as officers were still intensively conducting examinations. He explained that comprehensive information would be delivered at a press conference on Wednesday (24/6) afternoon at the West Java Police Headquarters in Bandung. He only disclosed that Taufik was arrested in the Majalaya area of Bandung Regency. Previously, the suspect had been moving from place to place to hide, although still within the Greater Bandung area. "He moved locations hourly, but still around Greater Bandung," Hendra told CNNIndonesia.com.
