West Java Governor provides compensation to Puncak minibus drivers
Bogor District—West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi symbolically handed over compensation to minibus drivers serving the Puncak route at Bogor Police Headquarters in Cibinong, Bogor District, West Java, on Sunday.
The compensation distribution is part of the West Java Provincial Government’s policy to temporarily halt minibus operations in the Puncak area during the Lebaran holiday period to reduce potential congestion on this tourist route.
“Nearly 2,000 minibus drivers from approximately 700 minibuses are receiving compensation to cease operations temporarily during Lebaran, so that congestion in Puncak can be reduced,” said Dedi Mulyadi.
West Java Transportation Department Head Dhani Gumelar stated that the compensation programme is being provided to 2,068 minibus drivers serving routes to the Puncak area.
“The number of drivers receiving compensation is 2,068 people. This is being done because every year the Puncak area becomes the point with the highest traffic congestion,” said Dhani.
He explained that compensation is provided at IDR 200,000 per day, so each driver receives a total of IDR 1 million over the five-day operational suspension period. The compensation funds have been transferred directly to recipients’ accounts through Bank BJB.
This programme applies only to minibuses serving routes in the Puncak area, whilst public transportation operations in other regions continue as normal to serve community needs.
