West Java Governor Praises Police for Swift Arrest of Woman's Captor

Police have successfully apprehended Taufik Hidayat, a fugitive wanted for the abuse and confinement of his girlfriend, identified by the initials YTR (29), over a period of three years in Bandung. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi expressed his appreciation for the police’s swift action in capturing the perpetrator.

“On behalf of the people of West Java, on behalf of humanity, on behalf of law enforcement, and on behalf of conscience, we extend our deepest gratitude and highest appreciation to the West Java Police Chief and all his ranks. The Director of General Criminal Investigation, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation, the Director of Cyber Crime, the Director of Women and Children’s Protection — all of whom swiftly captured the barbaric perpetrator Taufik Hidayat in Majalengka,” Dedi stated in a social media post seen on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

Dedi supports the legal process being undertaken by the police against the perpetrator. He urged that Taufik Hidayat receive a heavy sentence. “May Taufik Hidayat receive a punishment commensurate with his actions that violated the boundaries of humanity. I express my thanks and wish success for the West Java Police,” he continued.

The arrest of Taufik Hidayat was previously confirmed by West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan. He stated that Taufik was captured in the Majalaya area. “He has been secured in Majalaya,” said Rudi.
