West Java Governor Offers Rp 250 Million Bounty for Capture of Woman's Alleged Torturer

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has announced a bounty of Rp 250 million for anyone who can provide accurate information leading to the capture of Taufik Hidayat, a fugitive suspected of kidnapping and torturing a woman for three years. The victim, identified by the initials YTR, was found with her face destroyed and injuries covering her entire body.

Dedi stated he was outraged by the case, describing the perpetrator’s actions as inhumane and noting the victim had been left with severe physical injuries and deep psychological trauma. “A barbaric incident has occurred in West Java. A woman was sought after, kidnapped, tortured, her two eyes mutilated until she could no longer see, and her lips possibly cut with scissors. Her entire body was blistered and damaged,” Dedi said in a statement on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

The governor expressed confidence that the West Java Police would swiftly apprehend the suspect but emphasised his desire for public participation in the search. He pledged the reward from his personal funds to anyone who provides information leading to Taufik Hidayat’s arrest and handover to law enforcement.

Meanwhile, the victim YTR is receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung. Siska Gerfianti, head of the West Java Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning, confirmed the victim has begun to show signs of improvement and can now communicate, though interactions remain limited to prioritise her physical and psychological recovery.
