West Java Governor Maintains Vehicle Tax Rates Without Increase
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has opted not to increase vehicle tax rates (pajak opsen kendaraan) amid reports of tax hikes across various regions in Indonesia. He prefers to maintain existing tax rates to ensure a broader revenue base from more taxpayers rather than collecting higher revenues from fewer contributors.
“West Java is not increasing rates; we have chosen to maintain the current figures,” Mulyadi stated at the West Java Government Office (Gedung Sate) on Thursday (26 February 2026).
Since taking office as provincial governor just over a year ago through January, Mulyadi has maintained this stance on vehicle tax rates, prioritising higher participation from more taxpayers over increased individual contributions.
