West Java Governor Leads Demolition of Dozens of Stalls Along Eyckman Park in Bandung
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi led the demolition of dozens of stalls along Eyckman Park in Bandung on Tuesday (12/5/2026). The West Java Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) carried out the demolition, and the stalls will be relocated following coordination with the Bandung city government.
He stated that the demolition of the dozens of stalls was to restore the function of the park and sidewalks on Eyckman Street. The dozens of structures had been used as trading spots by vendors.
“We are restoring the function of the entire area according to its purpose. The sidewalks according to their function, the park according to its function, which I just asked about—it’s been nearly 35 years since it was built but not used,” he said on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
He mentioned that his side also received complaints from the Poltekes in the Eyckman Street area, who felt their access was blocked by the buildings. An excavator was deployed to demolish the structures, and a box truck containing alcoholic beverages was found parked in the street area.
“Here, almost a full box truck of alcoholic beverages was found earlier; they usually get drunk here,” he revealed.
Dedi said his side has provided compensation to the vendors whose structures were demolished. He also said he would coordinate with the Bandung city government for the relocation of the vendors in the area.
“Later, we’ll find a solution; the important thing is they go home with enough to eat for a month first,” he said.
