West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has launched a new initiative offering bounties to residents who can capture and subdue street criminals. Rewards ranging from Rp5 million to Rp50 million are being offered for the capture of thieves, pickpockets, snatch thieves, and robbers. The governor stipulated that the perpetrators must be caught and handed over to the police alive. “I am holding a competition for all residents of West Java who can take down thieves, pickpockets, snatch thieves, and robbers. We have prepared prizes from Rp5 million to Rp50 million,” he said on Thursday (23/7/2026). The politician, known by his initials KDM, stated that he has established a state of alert against street crime. He confirmed that he has coordinated with the West Java Regional Police and the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police to tackle criminal activities in the province. KDM also ordered that police patrol cars remain on standby every night. “The hazard warning lights must remain on,” the former Purwakarta Regent said.
