West Java Governor Hopes Taufik Hidayat Receives Maximum Sentence for Abuse Case

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) hopes that Taufik Hidayat will receive the maximum sentence according to the law. He also expressed his wish that the suspect in the severe abuse and confinement case of Yuvita Tri Rezeki (29) should feel what the victim experienced. “Yes, the hope is for the maximum penalty in accordance with what he did,” he said on the sidelines of the 80th Bhayangkara Day event at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday (1/7/2026). “If it is proven in court that he carried out the confinement, the kidnapping, the violent crime that resulted in permanent lifelong disability, then he should feel that, what the victim felt,” he added. He stated that the maximum punishment the suspect should receive is in accordance with legal provisions. Dedi added that before his arrest by the police, the suspect had come to the Pakuan Building and asked to meet the governor. “He said, ‘I want to meet the Governor, I’m going to be imprisoned soon but I want to talk,’” he said, recounting the suspect’s words from information received by security officers. Previously, the Directorate of Women and Children Protection and Human Trafficking Crimes (PPA and PPO) of the West Java Regional Police revealed that investigators had found two new crime scenes in the pre-reconstruction of the severe abuse and confinement case against Yuvita Tri Rezeki. The suspect, Taufik Hidayat, has been arrested and detained. The Director of PPA and PPO of the West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Rumi Untari, said that investigators found the two new crime scenes during the crime scene investigation and pre-reconstruction process some time ago. A reconstruction is planned for Thursday (2/7/2026). “We found two new crime scenes and we have also conducted a pre-reconstruction. If there are no obstacles, as planned, the reconstruction will be held on Thursday,” she said on Tuesday (30/6/2026). At the two new crime scenes, a number of pieces of evidence were secured. She mentioned that the reconstruction will not be held at the crime scenes but at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters. “Now there are six crime scenes. Initially, the police chief mentioned four, plus these two boarding house rooms,” she said. Commissioner Rumi said the reconstruction process will be coordinated with prosecutors and the legal representatives of both the suspect and the victim. Her party has also requested additional statements from the victim.
