West Java Governor Hopes Taufik Hidayat Receives Maximum Sentence for Abuse Case
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyeraldi (KDM) hopes that Taufik Hidayat will receive the maximum punishment in accordance with applicable laws. Furthermore, he expressed his wish that the suspect in the case of severe assault and the confinement of Yuvita Tri Rezeki (29) feels the same suffering experienced by the victim.
“Yes, the hope is that the maximum punishment aligns with what was committed,” he stated during the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary event at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
“If it is proven in court that he committed confinement, kidnapping, or acts of violence resulting in permanent lifelong disability, then he must feel what the victim felt,” he added.
He stated that the maximum penalty for the suspect must comply with statutory provisions. Dedi added that before being arrested by the police, the suspect had reportedly visited the Pakuan Building to request a meeting with the Governor.
“He conveyed, ‘I want to meet the Governor, I will be imprisoned soon but I want to vent,’” he said, mimicking the suspect’s words as reported by security personnel.
Previously, the Directorate of Women and Children Services and Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO) of the West Java Regional Police revealed that investigators found two new crime scenes during the pre-reconstruction of the severe assault and confinement case involving Yuvita Tri Rezeki. The suspect, Taufik Hidayat, has been arrested and detained.
Director of PPA and PPO of West Java Regional Police, Kombes Rumi Untari, stated that investigators discovered two new crime scenes during the crime scene processing and pre-reconstruction held recently. A full reconstruction of the case is scheduled to take place on Thursday (2/7/2026).
“We found two new crime scenes and have completed the pre-reconstruction. If there are no obstacles, we plan to conduct the reconstruction on Thursday, as planned,” she said on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
At the two new crime scenes, several pieces of evidence were secured. She noted that the reconstruction would not be held at the crime scenes themselves, but rather at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters.
“There are now six crime scenes. Initially, there were four as reported by the Regional Police Chief, plus two boarding house locations,” she said.
Kombes Rumi added that the reconstruction process will be coordinated with prosecutors and the legal counsel for both the suspect and the victim. Her department has also requested additional statements from the victim.
