Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, commonly known as KDM, has highlighted the issue of numerous unofficial railway crossings without automatic gates, which are frequently used as vehicle routes, especially in the province.

During a condolence visit to the home of the late Nurlaela, a victim of the KRL Commuter Line accident from Kampung Ceger, RT 02/RW 02, Tanjungbaru Village, Cikarang Timur Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, KDM stressed that the matter must be promptly evaluated and addressed collectively.

“There are several issues that need to be evaluated and handled together. One of them is the railway crossing routes, where there are still many unofficial crossing paths. Thus, they are not equipped with official automatic gates,” he said in Cikarang on Tuesday.

According to him, addressing the problem cannot be done solely by the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Transportation or PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), but requires active involvement from all related parties, including communities around the crossings.

“We all must work together to resolve this problem, to eliminate accident issues, including unofficial gates, many unofficial crossings, and not using railway safety gates,” he said.

He also expressed support for a thorough investigation by the authorities regarding the railway accident incident at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, on Monday (27/4) night.

He hopes that all stages of the investigation can be carried out optimally and comprehensively to serve as a collective evaluation for the future, particularly regarding mass transportation services.

“The investigation must be conducted properly so that in Indonesia, there should be no more accidents involving mass transport vehicles or public transportation that cause loss of life,” he said.
