West Java Governor Eases Vehicle Tax Payments Without Old Owner's ID
The West Java Provincial Government has launched a new policy to facilitate the public in paying motor vehicle taxes. This policy is expected to enhance taxpayer compliance while improving the quality of public services. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has officially issued a circular letter regarding the easing of annual motor vehicle tax (PKB) payments. A key point is the removal of the obligation to bring the original vehicle owner’s ID card. “It is notified to the people of West Java who own and/or control motor vehicles, whether personal or corporate, that they can fulfil their annual motor vehicle tax payment obligation without bringing the original owner’s ID card,” wrote Dedi. This policy provides a solution for the public who have faced administrative obstacles, especially owners of used vehicles who have not yet completed the name transfer process. With the new regulation, tax payments can still be made without presenting the previous owner’s identity. Although it offers convenience, the government continues to urge the public to carry out vehicle name transfers. This step is important to ensure ownership legality and facilitate future administrative processes. The policy takes effect from 6 April 2026. With this regulation, it is hoped that there will be no more excuses for the public to delay vehicle tax payments, while also driving an increase in regional revenue from the PKB sector.
