West Java Governor Demands Severe Punishment for Woman's Abductor in Bandung

Bandung (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyatar (Kang Dedi Mulyadi/KDM) has requested that Taufik Hidayat, the suspect accused of the kidnapping and physical abuse of a woman identified by the initials YTR (29) in Bandung Regency, be given a punishment that matches his crimes following his arrest by the West Java Regional Police.

“I hope that Mr Taufik Hidayat receives a punishment commensurate with his actions, which have violated the boundaries of humanity,” Dedi stated in Bandung on Tuesday night.

Dedi also expressed his appreciation to the West Java Regional Police for their success in capturing the perpetrator, who was previously reported to be hiding in the Majalengka area.

“On behalf of the people of West Java, humanity, law enforcement, and conscience, we express our highest gratitude and appreciation to the Chief of West Java Regional Police and the entire force for their swift arrest of the perpetrator,” he said.

Taufik is currently held at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters undergoing further interrogation. As of the time of this report, investigators are still processing his statements.

The case came to light after the victim’s family received a WhatsApp message from an unknown individual informing them that the victim was in the Emergency Department of the Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.

According to the Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Hendra Rochmawan, the victim was found with severe injuries to her head, face, and legs, as well as wounds to her arms.

During the period of captivity, the victim is alleged to have suffered repeated physical abuse using hands, blunt objects, and sharp weapons. Additionally, several of the victim’s personal belongings are believed to have been seized by the perpetrator.

Hendra stated that the medical examination results showed the victim suffered serious injuries to her face and eyes.

“What is certain is that, based on the visum results, both of her eyes have become blind. Furthermore, six of her upper front teeth have been lost, and her lip is now cleft,” said Hendra.
