West Java Governor Demands Severe Punishment for Woman's Abductor in Bandung

Bandung (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) has demanded that Taufik Hidayat, the suspected perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of a woman identified as YTR (29) in Bandung Regency, receive a punishment commensurate with his actions following his arrest by the West Java Regional Police. “I hope that Taufik Hidayat receives a punishment that fits his crime, which has violated the boundaries of humanity,” Dedi said in Bandung on Tuesday evening. He also expressed his appreciation to the West Java Police for successfully apprehending the suspect, who was previously reported to be in the Majalengka area. “On behalf of the people of West Java, humanity, law enforcement, and conscience, we extend our highest gratitude and appreciation to the West Java Police Chief and all ranks for swiftly arresting the perpetrator,” he stated. Taufik is currently at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters and is undergoing further examination. As of the time of writing, investigators are still probing his statements. The case came to light after the victim’s family received a WhatsApp message from an unknown person informing them that the victim was at the Emergency Room of Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. According to the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, the victim was found with severe injuries to her head, face, and legs, as well as wounds on her hands. During the period of confinement, the victim is believed to have been subjected to repeated abuse using hands, blunt objects, and sharp weapons. Several of the victim’s belongings are also suspected to have been taken by the perpetrator. Commissioner Rochmawan stated that the post-mortem examination revealed serious injuries to the victim’s face and eyes. “It is confirmed, based on the post-mortem results, that both her eyes have suffered blindness. Furthermore, six of her upper front teeth are missing and her lip is cleft,” said Hendra.
